Small Spaces by Sarah Epstein

Tash Carmody has been traumatised since childhood, when she witnessed her young Mallory Fisher being taken away from a carnival by Sparrow, a frightening boy that only she has seen.  At the time, nobody believed Tash when she told them what she saw, and she has come to accept that Sparrow wasn’t real, but a figment of her imagination and a cry for attention when her baby brother was born.  Over the years since, Tash has done everything she could to convince her parents she is mentally stable and able to look after herself when she moves away for University.  But now the Fishers are back in town, and Tash re-connects with Mallory’s brother Morgan when he returns to school, and suddenly she starts to see the frightening Sparrow again.

This is a gripping and suspenseful story that keeps you guessing all the way to the intense conclusion.  A great read for those who love psychological thrillers, or just a great, engaging read.
